Your driver picks you up at your hotel or riad in mid-afternoon. After about 45 minutes’ drive south-west of Marrakech, the landscape changes: you are in the Agafay desert, a stone desert of golden hills facing the peaks of the Atlas.

Once there, you can take a camel ride among the hills (optional), take your time for photos and enjoy the calm of the desert, far from the bustle of the city.

At the end of the day, settle in for the sunset: the hills turn ochre and pink, and the Atlas stands out on the horizon. A mint tea or dinner in a Berber camp (optional) extends the evening.

Agafay is a desert of stones and hills 45 minutes from Marrakech, ideal for half a day. The great sand dunes of Merzouga require a 3-day tour.
